Horror in Celtic legends

The misty and cloudy lands of Albion were inhabited not only by beautiful fairies and funny pixies. The legends gave birth to many mythical personages who were so ugly that one could even die if he sees them. Awful creatures lived in forests on the hills and foggy swamps. Some of those beings sometimes were seen at night near roads or towns.

Many books, movies and other artworks were inspired by legends about ghosts, banshees, vampires from the ancient myths. Also there’s a very popular topic about druids (by the way, such a game as Mystery Case Files: Dire Groove was inspired by it). And it’s no wonder for blood rituals had their place in the history. Even Roman historians mentioned this fact in their works.

The specific attitude to death and otherworld later has found its evolution in numerous so-called gothic novels which marked the initiation of horror genre in literature. One of the most eminent and popular novels were Dracula by Bram Stoker and Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein.

The stories about people kidnapped by elves were also rather popular. This very theme became the leitmotif in our adventure hidden-object game. Play it and feel the delicate freezing touch of ancient secrets.
