Queen Medb: mythes or historical person

Queen Medb: mythes or historical person

Medb is beautiful but cruel queen of country Sidhe, one of the main characters of Celtic legengs. She ordered two Banshees to spirit away a boy, the younger brother of a girl, heroine of the adventure game. Grasping and evil, Queen Meld confines the boy in a mirror in her sinister magical castle inside a hill.

Medb was a historical person. She lived in approximately the 1st century B.C. She is most famous as a protagonist in the story of the Cattle Raid of Cooley and adversary of Cuchulainn the legendary Celtic hero. She was named after the Celtic Goddess of Intoxication. She married a series of powerful men, Conchobar Mac Nessa of Ulster, a Connaught chieftain called Ailill and finally Ailill Mac Ross, a son of the King of Leinster.

Medb demanded her husband satisfy her three criteria—that he would be without fear, meanness, or jealousy. The last was particularly important, as she had many lovers. They say, that when people gaze upon Medb's beauty they become intoxicated with happiness and have the most unusual longing to be near her always…
She lived in Co. Sligo in Connaught and there are many monuments which are linked to her name. She was slain by Furbaide Ferbend (son of Conchobar Mac Nessa) while she was bathing in a lake on an island in Lough Ree, Co. Roscommon because she had murdered his mother.

Celtic Queen Medb is also known as Maive, Maeve, Maebh and Medba.
Myths say she was great warrior and won a lot of battles.
